Job Title: Data Centre Operation Technician at Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (ADSIPL)
Role Overview:
- Work in cutting-edge data centers to support AWS Cloud infrastructure in India.
- Part of a global team expanding and maintaining large-scale, high-density data centers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support data center equipment (racks, servers, networking devices, cables, etc.).
- Perform routine operations like rack installation, server break/fix, and decommissioning.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for hardware and media spare replacements.
- Work in a team, handing off tasks during shift changes.
- Resolve issues within Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Document work in a ticket tracking system.
- Manage inventory (identify, receive, and deploy hardware).
- Adhere to information security and physical safety policies.
- Escalate deviations from established processes.
- Escort visitors or contractors as needed.
- Represent AWS professionally.
- Work safely, securely, and inclusively.
- Physical tasks: Lift/rack equipment up to 20kg, work in cramped or elevated spaces.
Work Schedule:- 24x7 shift rotation.
Basic Qualifications:
- B.Sc, BCA, or 3-year Diploma in Computer Science, Hardware, or Electronics and Communication.
- Strong understanding of Linux/Unix administration.
- Experience troubleshooting server hardware.
- Knowledge of server booting (POST, BIOS, PXE, Kickstart, GRUB/LILO, RAID).
- Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP, Ethernet, L2/L3 technologies).
- Experience with network hardware (copper/optical fiber cabling, switches, routers).
- Strong communication skills.
- Passion for IT infrastructure and hardware.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with remote access tools (console routers, IPMI, BMC).
- Knowledge of network equipment installation and configuration.
- Familiarity with Cisco IOS, NX-OS, or JunOS.
- Understanding of redundancy (power feeds, ATS, server hardware, RAID, network connectivity).
- Knowledge of data center operations (inventory management, hot/cold aisles, security).
- Project management experience.
- Familiarity with AWS products (EC2, EBS, S3, etc.).
- Scripting skills (Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby, or other programming languages).
